Former HCC President Greg Schmitz is 3rd Finalist for Previous Job

Former Hawkeye Community College President Dr. Greg Schmitz is the third finalist to be greeted by the public and interviewed by HCC’s Board of Trustees, tomorrow(Wed), for the school’s soon-to-be-vacant President’s position.

Schmitz, who is currently Vice-President of the real estate firm Eagle View Partners and President of the CVT(Creating Value Together) Group, both in Cedar Falls, was President of Hawkeye from 2005 to 2010, and from 2002 to 2004 was the HCC Vice-President of Administration and Finance.  Before that, from 1997 to 2001, Dr. Schmitz was Executive Director of Administrative Services & Treasurer of the Waterloo School District.

Tomorrow(Wed) morning from 9 to 10, he’ll meet with faculty, staff, students and the community in Tama Hall, Room 128, on Hawkeye’s main campus on East Orange Road.  That open forum will repeat itself tomorrow(Wed) afternoon from 3 to 4, at the same place on the HCC main campus.  Tomorrow(Wed) night at 6:30, Dr. Schmitz will be interviewed by Hawkeye’s governing board…the trustees…in the Hawkeye Center Board Room, also on the main campus. That event is also open to the public.

After Schmitz, Hawkeye officials will have one more finalist to interview and that’ll be this Thursday.  His or her identity will be revealed tomorrow(Wed).  Whichever of the four is chosen will succeed Dr. Linda Allen, who’s retiring after eight years at the helm, at the end of June.
